Katapult Pro Target Detection

We are excited to introduce Katapult Pro Target Detection! This upgrade is designed for both speed and accuracy, to mitigate human error without removing the human decision.

While an anchor placement routine is active, shift-clicking near a visible calibration target in a photo will place the anchor in the center of the target. This equips users to move quickly through the calibration process without sacrificing accuracy or blindly trusting a machine to spot every target.

Procedure

This feature works best with the pole height and midspan height photo routines.

1.    Use the shortcut key to begin the routine.

2.    Hold the Shift key and click near the top calibration target sticker. The 16.5’ calibration anchor should appear within the white zone on the target.

3.    Continue to hold Shift and click near the remaining target stickers (14.5’, 10.5’, 6.5’, and 2.5’).

4.    Resolve the routine by adding the pole top marker (for poles) or setting the correct “over” detail (for midspan photos).

Once finished, all anchor calibration markers will be in position. You can then check the Collinearity and Alignment Scores to ensure optimal placement.

Additional Notes

  • Dragging Calibration Anchors: If a marker was placed incorrectly, select the “Re-enter Calibration Anchor” button and Shift + Click the target again to replace it. When Target Detection is enabled, this will be the only way to reposition a calibration anchor once placed.
  • Manual Heights: This feature also works outside of the photo routines. You can use the “Anchor Calibration" (or “Anchor Point”) photo inputs to place anchors at other heights.
  • Defensibility Matters: You still need to click near a visible target in the photo. If you click too far from a target, Target Detection will not place an anchor.
  • This feature is available and enabled by default. Please reach out to support@katapultengineering.com to opt-out.
