Configure And Download A Make Ready Notification Export

When you need to hand attaching companies a clean, branded summary of the make ready work required on their poles, the Make Ready Notification export builds that spreadsheet for you.

An open Excel workbook showing the Make Ready Notification export with one row per pole and tabs along the bottom for the cover sheet and the make ready sheet.

The Make Ready Notification option only appears if your company subscribes to Make Ready Engineering. If you do not see it under Exports in the Model Editor, contact Katapult Pro Support to confirm your subscription.

What is this?

The Make Ready Notification export is an Excel workbook that summarizes the make ready work required on the poles in a job, organized by the company being notified. You configure it once per model in the Model Editor, then download it from any job built on that model. The workbook can contain two tabs: a cover sheet that carries your branding, timeline choices, and job level details, and a make ready sheet that lists one row per pole with the moves and notes called for that pole. Despite the word "Notification," nothing is emailed and nothing is scheduled. This is a manual download. You generate the file, review it, and send it yourself.

When would I use it?

How do I use it?

Setup happens once in the Model Editor. Downloading happens per job on the Maps page.

Open the Make Ready Notification settings

Open the Model Editor from the App Tray in the upper right corner of your screen, then select the model you want to configure. In the left hand menu, scroll to Exports and select Make Ready Notification. This is a single settings screen, not a list of templates. Each model carries one Make Ready Notification configuration.

The Model Editor navigation menu showing the Exports section expanded with Make Ready Notification highlighted, and its settings screen open to the right.

Choose whether to include Cost Causer

Check Include Cost Causer to add a Cost Causer column to the make ready sheet. Only turn this on if your team is actively using the Cost Causer attribute on nodes. If the attribute is not being populated, the column will come through empty.

Set your header color

Use Header Color to set the color of the banner across the top of the cover sheet. Match your company brand color here so every notification leaves looking like it came from you.

Decide whether to include a cover sheet

Check Include Cover Sheet to add a cover tab in front of the make ready data. The cover sheet is where your branding, timeline choices, warning language, and job level details live. If you leave this unchecked, every cover sheet field below it is hidden and the workbook ships with the make ready sheet only.

Build your timeline options

The timeline section controls the dropdown a reader uses on the cover sheet to see the dates tied to a given completion window.

  1. Enter a Timeline Label. This is the wording that introduces the dropdown on the cover sheet.
  2. Add your Timeline Options. Each option is one completion window your company offers.
  3. For each option, set the label and the value for the Communications due date and the Power due date. Leave the label blank to reuse the option name as it is written, or enter your own wording if the cover sheet should read differently.
  4. Drag the handle on any row to reorder your options. The order here is the order the reader sees.

Add wording to the Self Help Warning field if your notifications need to carry a standing warning paragraph. This is free text, so write it the way your team wants it to read every time.

Choose what appears on the cover sheet

Cover Sheet Attributes is a table of the extra fields that appear on the cover sheet. Add a row for each field, then pick its type:

Give each row a label so the reader knows what they are looking at, and drag the row handles to set the order.

Add your logo, address, and column header

Use Logo to select an image for the cover sheet. The image has to already be uploaded to the model under the Files section of the Model Editor, so upload it there first if you do not see it in the list. Enter your company address in Logo Address. This field accepts line breaks, so format it the way you want it to print under the logo.

Use Simple Make Ready Column Header to rename the Simple Make Ready column on the make ready sheet. This field also accepts the $attacherName token if you want the notified company's name to appear inside the header itself.

Click Save when your configuration is complete.

Download the export from a job

Open a job on the Maps page that uses the model you just configured. Open the Download Manager at the top left of the page, to the right of the job name. Expand the Data category, open the Spreadsheet Export options, and select Make Ready Notification. Then start the download.

A prompt appears asking which company or companies should receive the notification. Katapult Pro prefills this based on the job's attachment owner, so review the selection before you continue. You can select more than one company and generate all of their notifications in the same pass. Each selected company gets its own notification content.

Once you confirm, the platform pulls the poles, spans, photos, and metadata from the open job, builds the per pole notes, fills in your configured cover sheet, and downloads the workbook.

The Download Manager panel open on the Maps page showing the Data category expanded with Make Ready Notification checked under the spreadsheet export options.
